Crowns

Your teeth are composed of two main parts. The crown is the part visible above the gum. The root is the part below the gum that holds your tooth firmly in your jawbone. If the crown of your tooth becomes weakened by decay or fractures or if it is stained or uneven, it can be restored and strengthened by an artificial crown. If you have any questions about crowns and how they are a benefit to you, speak with Dr. Hamam, Dr. Lamb, or Dr. Leister today!

Dentures

Dentures are artificial teeth set into a framework that rests on your gums. They are used to replace either a full or partial set of missing teeth. The plastic framework is customized to fit your mouth, and due to the fact that changes in your mouth occur, a denture will need to be checked and re-fitted periodically. Dentures play an important role in the maintenance of dental health.

If you experience discomfort because of your dentures, the following measures may ease your discomfort:

  1. Rinse your mouth with baking soda or salt.
  2. Leave the offending denture out as much as possible.
  3. Brush your gums, palate, and tongue with a soft, bristled toothbrush after every meal and before going to sleep.

A sore mouth, if untreated, could lead to further complications. If the problem recurs regularly, speak to Dr. Hamam, Dr. Lamb, or Dr. Leister today.

Dental Implants

Improve your quality of life, dramatically improve your chewing ability, and regain your confidence in public with dental implants! If you are looking for a way to replace a missing tooth that is most similar to your natural one, an implant may be your solution. Dental implants are small, sturdy titanium posts that act as the root structure for a natural tooth. A dental implant is placed into your upper or lower jaw bone. After the bone has grown around the implant, implants can hold a crown, bridge, or over-denture just like roots hold natural teeth in place. Implants are very durable and can last a lifetime. They require the same maintenance as natural teeth; this includes brushing, flossing, and regular dental check-ups.

Do you wear a complete or partial denture that is troubling you?

Dental implants may be your solution. If denture stability and retention are what you want, dental implants can provide them. Implants allow you to eat the foods you enjoy and eliminate the embarrassment of loose dentures. Solid, stable, and comfortable dentures will improve the quality of your life. Be sure to ask a member of Clinton Family Dental about the possibilities of dental implants to help solve your denture problems.

Orthodontics

Braces for Children

Braces are one of the most common orthodontic treatments. They are composed of three parts: The bracket or band (metal ring) that attaches to each tooth. The cement or bonding material that secures the bracket or band to each tooth. The archwire attaches to all the brackets. Please ask us if you have any questions about the use of braces.

Invisalign

Clinton Family Dental is proud to offer Invisalign™. Instead of using unsightly metal bands and brackets, the Invisalign™ system employs clear plastic "aligners". These are worn for about two weeks at a time until the desired tooth movement has occurred, at which time the patient utilizes the next fitted aligner. This is continued until the teeth are in the correct position. The main advantage is straight teeth without the need for metal bands or brackets. In fact, it's very hard to tell if someone is wearing these clear "braces" at all!

Adult Orthodontics

Braces are not just for children! More and more adults are turning to braces to give them straighter, properly aligned teeth. Many of our suffering patients complain of headaches, neck pain, dizziness, fainting, clicking or locking of jaws, ringing in the ears, or earaches. Use of braces, appliances, and orthodontic treatment applies gentle pressure to move teeth to their desired position. Orthodontics can improve both the appearance and the function of your teeth.

Periodontal Disease Treatment

Periodontal Disease is the most common cause of tooth loss in adults. It is an infection of the gums, ligaments, and jawbone. The disease is almost completely painless and difficult to detect in its early stages. Some early warning signs are swollen and tender gums, bad breath, and gums that bleed when you floss and brush. Periodontal Disease is caused by the bacteria in plaque. It can be treated, so see us today if you have detected any of these warning signs!

Warning signs are in the Early Stages:

  1. Reddish, discolored, and/or bleeding gums
  2. Swollen, puffy, and tender gums
  3. Bad taste and/or bad breath called periodontitis

In advanced stages, symptoms are more severe:

  1. Loose gums and/or teeth
  2. Gum recession
  3. Teeth position change

Do you want to prevent Periodontal Disease?

Here are a few things to avoid: Smoking, chewing tobacco, clenching or grinding your teeth, and unwholesome foods high in sugars or starch. Some medications or medical conditions can also increase your vulnerability to gum disease.

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is a common prescription for abscessed teeth. Abscessed teeth have infected tissue (pulp) in the center. This causes pain and/or swelling. During root canal treatment, the tooth is opened and infected tissue removed. The space is then filled, and the opening is sealed. A crown may be placed to protect the tooth.. A tooth that has had a root canal treatment can last a lifetime!

Many people have the mistaken notion that root canal treatment is painful. This is NOT SO! We can do many things to ensure you are comfortable during the procedure. During the treatment, the area around the tooth is frozen. Some patients may opt to use nitrous oxide or listen to music to help them relax. If there is pain due to infection, the root canal treatment can be stopped, and the treated tooth can be temporarily sealed.

Antibiotics may be used to help control infection. In most cases, you can't see or feel any difference in a tooth that has had a root canal treatment. Talk to us today if you have questions about root canals.

Veneers

Veneers are one of the ways many people obtain a beautiful white smile. Veneers are custom-made, ultra-thin, porcelain shells that are bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth. They are durable and can match the existing color or whiten your natural teeth. In as little as two visits, you can have custom-made veneers permanently bonded to your teeth. Veneers are a great way to correct crooked, cracked, discolored, and misshapen teeth.

White Fillings

Old, unsightly mercury alloy fillings can be removed and replaced. Porcelain restorations can hold and strengthen your tooth structure, as mercury fillings often crack and break teeth because they are not bonded to the surrounding tooth structure. Composite resin offers patients metal-free dentistry, which allows light to flow through and reflect off the teeth, leaving a more natural smile. If you would like to remove your unsightly amalgam fillings, speak with Dr. Hamam, Dr. Lamb, or Dr. Leister today!

Teeth Whitening

Dentist-prescribed home whitening is a new whitening alternative. It combines the convenience of at-home whitening products with the assistance and expertise of your dentist. Here's how it works: We take a model of your teeth and use it to make a custom-fitted tray. Then, we provide you with instructions for the application of the tray, which contains whitening gel. You wear it each day or night for as little as 1 hour, only returning to have the procedure monitored. Patients often see results after the first day. A significant change can be noticed in as little as three days. Maximum results will be achieved with use over a 4 to 6-week period. For further information, please speak to a member of Clinton Family Dental today!

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth are extracted for two general reasons: either the wisdom teeth have already become impacted, or the wisdom teeth could potentially become problematic if not extracted. Potential problems caused by the presence of properly grown-in wisdom teeth include infections caused by food particles easily trapped in the jaw area behind the wisdom teeth, where regular brushing and flossing is difficult and ineffective. Such infections may be frequent and cause considerable pain and medical danger. Another reason to have a wisdom tooth removed is if the tooth has grown improperly, causing the tongue to brush up against it. If you have questions or concerns about your wisdom teeth, call us today!
